Con l’assegnazione dei Golden Globe si apre ufficialmente la cosiddetta Awards season, ovvero quel periodo di eventi e premiazioni, molto importante per l’industria cinematografica di Hollywood, che culmina a marzo con l’assegnazione degli Oscar. I Golden Globe, in particolare, sono i primi premi che vengono convenzionalmente assegnati.
Si tratta dei riconoscimenti stabiliti dalla Hollywood Foreign Press Association, che raccoglie giornalisti stranieri che si occupano di spettacolo negli Stati Uniti. Nella mattina del 6 dicembre sono state annunciate le nomination di questa 76sima edizione e la cerimonia con le premiazioni si è tenuta il 6 gennaio 2019 a Beverly Hills. L’evento, che andrà in onda in Italia il 7 Gennaio, è stato presentato da Sandra Oh (nominata per Killing Eve) e dal comico Andy Samberg.
A votare per i Golden Globe sono un po’ meno di cento giurati, e nell’ambiente del cinema i premi sono considerati un’anticipazione di come potrebbero andare gli Oscar, la cui cerimonia quest’anno sarà il 24 febbraio. Le categorie dei Golden Globe sono 25: 14 per il cinema e 11 per la televisione. I premi sono divisi in base al genere del film o della serie tv.
Quest’anno tra le pellicole con più nomination c’erano A Star is Born, Vice – L’uomo nell’ombra e La favorita. Tra le serie invece sono andate bene The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Killing Eve e Barry.
